KYUQUOT COMMUNITY PROTECTION PLAN

  1. The priority and objective of this plan is to protect the KCFN community from the introduction of COVID 19 and to keep the community and surrounding area of Kyuquot safe.
  2. Both the KCFN Executive and all operators in the “Family of Lodges” surrounding Kyuquot agree that the relationships that have been built over years and years, both professionally and personally, are extremely valued and all have the common goal to keep everyone safe. Community members, operator’s staff and guests.
  3. All operators agree to follow initial protocols and changes as they develop.
  4. All operators must submit an operating plan to the KCFN Pandemic Response Team for approval.
  5. Any employees, contractors, visitors or volunteers who are residents of Houpsitas must abide by the operator’s plans as well as BC Guidelines and the KCFN Declaration(s).
  6. Employees will have an employment agreement outlining the rules and disciplinary consequences associated with breaches.
  7. All operators, staff, guests and visitors will follow protocols outlined for Fair Harbour found here 
  8. Any operators will follow the legal requirements and guidelines set by WorkSafeBC, the Province of BC, Government of Canada, the associated Public Health Officers, and industry organization guidelines. This includes practicing regular hand washing, use of hand sanitizers, wearing of masks when required and physical distancing when possible.
  9. Any guests/staff showing symptoms of Covid 19 will be immediately isolated until the earliest time that they can obtain medical attention/testing.
  10. Emergency medical attention required by staff or guests of operators can be treated with advance notice at the Health Clinic in Houpsitas or on Okime Island. When possible, the preferred location will be the Okime Island Clinic.  This will be determined on a case-by-case basis. During the day, radio the nurse on the VHF, during the evening and on weekends, phone the Okime Island Clinic.
  11. Response to all on-water and land-based emergencies outside of Houpsitas will be conducted following BC Covid Safety Guidelines.
  12. Should the Province of BC revert to implementing heavier COVID restrictions in BC, all operators will respond to the changing regulations immediately in collaboration with KCFN. The Family of Lodges will stay engaged to discuss changing regulations and recommendations to discuss what is in the best interest for the KCFN community, lodges, and surrounding area of Kyuquot.
